This 1972 Spitfire has perfect sheet metal, thanks to a previous owner’s multi-year restoration efforts, including a rebuilt 1500 engine. Unfortunately, he passed away before finishing and it sat incomplete for several years but as a classic “barn find”, the project has now continued first bringing it back to life, then into running order and now on the road again. Putting an incomplete puzzle back together has been both challenging and rewarding. When I got it, it had a new parts: Weber carb, exhaust header, convertible top, tires, rebuilt brakes. I had to sort the electrical system, wet sand and buff the paint, fit a new interior, tune the engine, flush the cooling system and fix all the many loose ends from taking over an incomplete project. Not a concourse car, but a fun driver that I’m not afraid to drive while reliving my youth when I had ‘68 Mark III way back in the day…
